Contingency Fee
Unfortunately there has been an increase in non-payment of outstanding school fees of learners who have left the DSK. There is therefore an increase in the requirement for provisions for bad debts and a growing administrative burden to claim these outstanding monies. In order to counter the risk of an increase in the mounting debts the management board has now decided to change the structure of the contingency fee for new learners with effect from
1 January 2012:
- Increase of the contingency fee to R8 000 per family. R4 000 (50% of R8 000) is refundable without interest after the last child leaves the school. The rest will be retained as a sustainability reserve for the quality assurance of the school.
- From grade 6 (lateral entrants) increase of the contingency fee to R10 000 per family: R5 000 (50% of R10 000) is refundable without interest after the last child leaves the school. The rest will be retained as a sustainability reserve for the quality assurance of the school.
- In the case of financial problems R 4 000 may be paid before registration and the rest by the end of the first quarter after prior agreement. The remaining R 4 000 (or R6 000) may also be paid in instalments over 2 quarters upon application.
- Families who already have children at the DSK: when registering a further child after 1 January 2012 the contingency fee must be increased to the new amount of R8 000. R4 000 (50% of R8 000) is refundable without interest after the last child leaves the school. The rest will be retained as a sustainability reserve for the quality assurance of the school.
- If your child is registered for the school year 2012 R 3 000 is payable by 31.12.2011. Contingency fees for applications to start later than 2012 must be adjusted to the new rates in force for that period.
With this measure we aim to protect our loyal, paying parents, as all school fees not paid influence the school budget and therefore also the payable school fees.
