Bazaar
Our school bazaar always taking place on the first Saturday in November has been an institution of the German community in Cape Town. It is the main fundraising event of our school. The bazaar is organized by the parents in close cooperation with the school principals, teachers, administration office and learners. The funds raised benefit our school directly. In the past for example, we financed the Interactive Whiteboards and this year’s profit will go into our new school building.

Our bazaar can only be successful, if it is carried by the whole school community. It is a mandatory school day for learners and teachers. The parents are preparing and organizing the various stands and actively participate in their class’s stand on the bazaar day. After a busy working shift, the fun factor to meet friends and enjoy what the other classes are offering is even more exciting!
At the beginning of each school year a bazaar representative and a deputy are elected during the first parent’s evening. Their role is to organize and coordinate their fellow class parents to make their own stand as successful as possible. Two meetings with all bazaar representatives are planned, with the first one scheduled for April. During this meeting, all questions regarding the various stands are answered.
The whole event is managed by the bazaar committee (“Basarausschuss”). They operate independently from any class activities and make sure the infrastructure provided secures a smooth and successful event. The bazaar committee also organizes the beer tent as well as the talent tent.
We ask all parents for their active support, be it as a bazaar representative, a member of the Bazar Committee or as an active helper at your class stand. The bazaar offers a host of opportunities to strengthen our school community and to have fun with fellow-parents and friends.

In the course of the year, we will ask you to donate a variety of items: from fashionable, as good as new clothing for our Boutique, prizes for our tombola, contemporary books in good condition and specifically picture books for our book stand and all other, still usable items for the flea market. The Mozart Café will ask for freshly baked cakes and reward a prize for the best cake.
Time and again we receive requests whether it is possible to rent a stand at the bazaar in order to sell goods. Unfortunately this is not possible as the school bazaar’s sole purpose is to raise funds for the DSK. However, sponsors interested in promoting their products and services can rent a table. Please contact Charmaine Saurwein at 021-480 38 40 for any further information.
